![]() ![]() I wish you would have researched the issue before taking the time in insulting me. OT: I do not know why you felt it necessary to make claims inferring my lack of intelligence in purchasing this device for photo digitizing needs, when you do not fully know the situation, and honestly it isn't productive/helpful. I do not want to use Aperture to create a script to adjust ALL the pics I scanned. If ScanSnap Manager works in OS X, there is no reason third party software support shouldn't work. I simply need to get other third party apps such as Vuescan to recognize the scanner. The URL you referenced from Fujitsu regarding lack of TWAIN/SANE/ISIS was not present at the time I purchased the device in the Spring, it was added after the many complaints. I have spoken with Fujitsu tech support in Montreal regarding scanning business cards and the rep was extremely OS X knowledgable and informed me Fujitsu has dropped the ball on writing the code for third party OS X apps/TWAIN/SANE support (unlike Windows), so OS X users need to extract the Windows firmware for use, reference the SANE site for the necessary implementation of the scanner, etc. ![]() There are TWAIN/SANE OS X 10.6 packager and SANE-backends for full support. I purchased the S1300 based on reviews and the ability to load a multitude of files/photos for scanning instead of using a flatbed which requires copious amounts of time scanning/editing. It is only compatible on OS X if you use their ScanSnap manager which is extremely limited. Fujitsu mislead buyers by falsely stating full OS X compatibility. However, there doesn't even seem to be an uninstallation method and many have been forced to reinstall the entire OS. clear caches, and reinstall as in some instances two TWAIN SANE installations can cause conflicts as the installer doesn't overwrite previous installations. I wonder if I should uninstall ALL TWAIN SANE backends, etc. PS This should be recognized by Image Capture, etc., others have gotten it to, and I've followed all the directions to a T. Thanks for the help! I'm giving it another go and after that I'm throwing the thing out the window and writing a nice letter to Fujitsu regarding their (lack of full) OS X support. I've literally read everything about this **** thing, Fujitsu lists it as fully OS X compatible, but they fail to mention that ONLY THEIR S****Y software can be used with it. "Image Capture", VueScan don't, and I cannot find a TWAIN for PhotoShop CS5. Means OS X recognizes the USB scanner, only the Fujitsu ScanSnap software recognizes the scanner. Typing "scanimage -L" in terminal lists:ĭevice `epjitsu:libusb:007:012-04c5-11ed-ff-ff' is a FUJITSU ScanSnap S1300 scanner Please please any one with any info I am desperate for help, I'll even PAY. I need a third party program that will scan the pics well so i can avoid Photoshopping 1000+ pics. I'm going CRAZY as I have to scan 1000+ photo's for my family for the holiday and the ScanSnap software is so limited, scanned images are darkened no matter now much I tweak its settings. However, it is not recognized in "Image Capture", "PhotoShop CS5" and "Vuescan". In terminal, using "scanimage -L", the scanner IS FINALLY recognized. Learning further I placed the appropriate firmware file (300_0C00.nal) that is referenced in the. I followed the instructions on editing the nf file to recognize the scanner (apparently nf and not nf is needed for Fujitsu scanners). In terminal, I got the vendor and product ID. ![]() I have been online all day (my head is killing me) reading up on TWAIN SANE and how to get my system to fully recognize the USB scanner. The software it comes with for scanning photographs is horrendous. ![]()
